Focused, unhurried time to give your relationship the room it needs.
Learn moreWhy couples sessions are 90 minutes and cost more: relationship work needs room. Ninety minutes lets us slow the conflict down, get underneath the pattern, and actually work through a difficult conversation together — instead of stopping just as we reach the part that counts. The extra time is where the change happens.
Reduced-fee appointments: I set aside six appointments a week at a reduced fee — $60 for a 60-minute individual session and $90 for a 90-minute couples session — for adults in British Columbia for whom the standard fee is a barrier. It is for households with gross annual income under $60,000, or anyone whose physician, nurse practitioner or other referrer notes that cost is a barrier. Self-declaration is fine; no Notice of Assessment is needed.
The fee is set at intake and stays there for the course of counselling, for up to 12 sessions at the reduced rate, with extensions where clinically indicated. It is meant for people without extended-health coverage for counselling; if you have coverage, the standard rate applies. Priority goes to men who have not used counselling before, and to couples in acute distress who cannot wait two months for a subsidized spot elsewhere. To ask, email or call and mention the reduced fee — I reply within two business days, and appointments are usually available within two weeks.
Payment & benefits: Payment is due at the time of session by e-transfer or credit card, and I ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. I can provide receipts you can submit to your extended health plan — coverage varies by plan, so it's worth confirming yours directly.

Frequently asked questions
Everything else you might be wondering
How much do sessions cost?
Individual sessions are $200 for 60 minutes and couples sessions are $300 for 90 minutes. The first 15-minute consultation is free.
Why are couples sessions 90 minutes?
Because meaningful relationship work usually needs more time than a standard hour. Ninety minutes lets us slow down conflict as it happens, get underneath the pattern, and actually work through a hard conversation — rather than stopping right as we reach the part that matters.
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The 15-minute phone consultation is free and comes with no pressure to book. It's there so we can both check that we're a good fit before you commit.
How do I pay?
Payment is due at the time of session by e-transfer or credit card.
Do you provide receipts for extended health benefits?
Yes — I can provide a receipt for each session that you can submit to your extended health plan. Whether counselling is covered, and which credentials your insurer requires, depends on your specific plan, so it's worth confirming your coverage directly with them.
What's your cancellation policy?
I ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule, so I can offer the time to someone else.
Do you offer a reduced fee or sliding scale?
Yes. Six appointments a week are set aside at $60 for a 60-minute individual session and $90 for a 90-minute couples session, for BC adults with household income under $60,000 or whose doctor or other referrer notes that cost is a barrier. Self-declaration is accepted. Up to 12 sessions at the reduced rate, with extensions where clinically indicated. It is for people without extended-health coverage for counselling. Email or call and mention the reduced fee.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. I provide talk therapy, not medication. If medication might help, I can coordinate with your family doctor or a psychiatrist.
Where are you located, and do you offer online sessions?
I see clients in person in Victoria, BC, and securely online anywhere in British Columbia. When you reach out, we'll find a day and time that works.
You don't have to figure this out alone.
The consultation is 15 minutes, by phone, and free. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what you're hoping will change, and whether I'm the right person to help. No preparation, no pressure to book.
