Privacy policy
How this website handles the information you share, in plain language.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what information the Victoria Relationship Therapy website collects and how it's used. It covers the website only. The confidentiality of therapy itself — what's said in session and in your clinical record — is handled separately and discussed with you directly before we begin.
What the website collects
If you fill in the contact form, you choose what to share — typically your name, email, an optional phone number, what you're interested in, and an optional short message. That information is sent to me so I can reply and, if you'd like, arrange a consultation. Please don't share sensitive clinical or personal details through the form; a few words about what brings you in is plenty.
Like most websites, basic technical information (such as your browser type and general location) may be logged by the hosting and analytics tools used to keep the site running and understand how it's used. This site does not sell your information, and it isn't used for advertising.
How your information is used
Information you send through the site is used only to respond to you and to arrange care. It isn't shared with third parties except the service providers that operate the website (for example, the hosting and form provider), who process it on my behalf.
Confidentiality of therapy — and its limits
What you share in therapy is treated as confidential. There are a small number of legal and ethical limits to that confidentiality — for example, where there is a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, where a child or vulnerable person may be at risk, or where records are required by law or a court. I'll walk through these limits with you clearly at the start of our work, before you share anything you'd want protected.
This website and practice are not an emergency service. If you're in crisis or worried about your safety or someone else's, please call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline), call 9-1-1, or contact the Vancouver Island Crisis Line at 1-888-494-3888. Messages sent through this site are not monitored around the clock.
Access and questions
You can ask what information I hold about you and request that it be corrected or deleted, subject to any professional record-keeping obligations. For any privacy question, email koby@victoriatherapist.ca or call 604-937-6006.
This policy may be updated from time to time; the current version always lives on this page.
You don't have to figure this out alone.
The consultation is 15 minutes, by phone, and free. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what you're hoping will change, and whether I'm the right person to help. No preparation, no pressure to book.
