Couples · Victoria, BC
For couples who are stuck in the same fight or pattern, drifting apart, or trying to come back from a breach of trust, the work is direct, warm, and built to effect change.
Most couples don't understand that underneath the pattern are deeper relational wounds that likely precede the relationship. My job is to help you both see the pattern, stop letting those learned ways of being govern your present interactions, and learn skills that bring you closer to each other instead of further away.
I practise Relational Life Therapy, which means I stay honest and direct. I'm on the side of relational living.
What we can work on
Our work generally consists of three phases. First, our sessions focus on surfacing the pattern. Second, we delve into the underlying relational wounds that shape how you show up in your relationships. Third, our sessions teach you relational skills. From there, we work in real time — noticing the patterns as they happen and practising the skills you can use to live more relational lives.
Questions
It depends on what you're working on. Some couples come for a focused stretch of 6–10 sessions to break a specific pattern; others stay longer to rebuild after a deeper rupture. We'll talk openly about progress and pacing as we go.
We typically work together. If there is a need, we will hold individual sessions.
